The Office of the Pardon Attorney works under the umbrella of the Department of Justice to assist the President in all matters as they relate to the granting of presidential pardons. The founder and CEO of the recently defunct cryptocurrency exchange, FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried (aka SBF) was arrested on Monday, December 12, 2022 by Bahamian police, roughly 24-hours before he was to testify for the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services.
His role in the collapse of one of the world's largest crypto-exchanges, once valued at an estimated $32 billion, has been the target of widespread speculation with many going to Twitter to voice their conspiratorial hypotheses:
