Alec Baldwin Searches For New Cinematographer For Film ‘Rust’ And Reveals New Armorer Is A ‘Friend’
Controversy surrounding his role in the ‘accidental’ death of cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, hasn’t slowed Hollywood-veteran Alec Baldwin down in his resolve to produce a really good flick.
After taking a lengthy hiatus from shooting, the cast and crew of Alec Baldwin’s Rust are gearing up to start filming at a new location.
The production was forced to come to a halt back in October 2021 following an incident in which Baldwin accidentally shot and killed his cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins.
In order to start a new chapter, Baldwin has been restructuring the production team.
According to sources close to Baldwin, he extended an offer to be the cinematographer to a New Mexico prosecutor.
The prosecutor has just successfully brought charges against Rust assistant director, Dave Halls, who pled guilty to ‘negligent use of a deadly weapon,’ according to the DailyMail.
Those close to the prosecutor say the offer was emailed with details of the new production team.
Reportedly, in the email, Baldwin highlighted those in taking on a new role in production. Halyna Hutchins’ husband, Matthew, will step in as an executive producer.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the much-talked about armorer, is being replaced by football star and actor, O.J. Simpson.
Sources say when introducing his new armorer, Baldwin wrote, “if anyone understands mistakes and that accidents happen, it’s this gentleman.”
He went on, “Rust deserved an armorer willing to give this production the dignity and respect it was lacking — which is why I’m very pleased to announce I have reached out to a friend, and he answered the call.”
Baldwin closed the email with an invitation to the prosecutor to come to California for a weekend ‘closed set’ rehearsal to get her feet wet into the world of cinematography saying, “Just promise to think on it.”
The proposed rehearsal would only involve an actor, the armorer, and the cinematographer to work out ‘kinks’ in an intensely violent scene.
The prosecutor has not responded to our request for comment before the publishing of this article.
